If you still think perovskite is merely a term used in laboratories, you might be missing out on one of the most promising investment and technological areas in 2026. This year, perovskite has truly gone beyond its initial scope! It’s no longer limited to discussions in the energy sector; it’s now being explored in aerospace science, semiconductor sensing, the Internet of Things, AI, and even becoming a hot topic in the venture capital world.

The 6th Taiwan Perovskite Technology and Applications Forum, co-hosted by the “Taiwan Perovskite Research and Industry Alliance” and the “Academia Sinica’s Center for Research on Key Issues”, will be held on July 24th (Friday). This event brings together international expertise and local capabilities in the field of energy, ensuring that all participants gain valuable insights and secure their place in the next wave of technological innovation.

Lead researcher at the Academia Sinica’s Center for Key Issues Research: Strong promotion at the national strategic level

One of the highlights of this forum was the close collaboration with the Research Center for Key Issues of the Academia Sinica (RCCI). As the nation’s foremost academic institution, the RCCI has long been deeply involved in the development of perovskite solar cells. It has even established the “Next-Generation Solar Cell Research Program,” considering perovskite to be one of the key strategic materials for achieving the goal of “net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.”

The Academia Sinica not only invests substantial resources in forward-looking research but also plays a key role in facilitating the integration of industry and academia. By hosting this event, the RCCI is committed to promoting the development of Taiwan’s calcium titanium ore industry chain, helping to transform scientific breakthroughs from high-barrier technologies into practical industrial applications. With the leadership of national-level research institutions, Taiwan’s calcium titanium ore industry is rapidly moving toward a central position in the global supply chain.

Moving to the south for the first time! Southern friends, this is your green energy hub. Northern friends, high-speed trains provide direct access.

The Taiwan Perovskite Technology and Applications Forum has now reached its sixth edition. This time, it’s being held in the southern region for the first time ever! For those in the southern region who have long been involved in the photovoltaic and semiconductor supply chains, this represents an international-level opportunity right at their doorstep.

Friends in the northern regions need not worry about transportation at all. The forum will be held at the southern campus of the Academia Sinica (International Conference Hall). This location is ideal, as it’s right next to the Tainan High-Speed Rail Station. It takes only about 10 minutes to walk from the station to the venue. No matter where you’re coming from, you can easily get to this international technology conference and enjoy top-notch audio-visual facilities in a state-of-the-art venue.

Four Core Theme Applications: Exploring the Four Major Areas Where Perovskite Is Transforming the World

This forum will focus on the four most groundbreaking applications of perovskite, highlighting its irreplaceable commercial and scientific value. These four applications are no longer just concepts—they represent the energy revolution that’s already underway:

  • 🏢 Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV): Transforming curtain walls into smart power generation facilities. This solves the problem of limited power generation space in urban areas and helps buildings transition from “energy consumers” to “energy management nodes”.

  • 🚀Space Energy Applications: Addressing the needs of AI and space computing centers, this research explores how perovskite can maintain high efficiency in extreme temperature and radiation conditions.

  • 🔬X-Ray Sensing Technology: The high sensitivity of perovskite enables not only power generation but also various sensing applications, significantly enhancing the reliability of medical diagnoses and industrial inspections.

  • 🌐 Self-Powered IoT Systems: Utilizing the excellent power-generation capabilities of perovskite in low-light indoor environments, these systems enable Ambient AI to operate independently of external power sources, fundamentally transforming the way the Internet of Things functions.

Three main thematic sessions, 17 professional presentations: A comprehensive overview of industry-academia-research collaboration

To delve deeper into these four key application areas, the conference carefully organized three thematic sections. Throughout the day, 17 expert presentations were held, turning the forum into more than just a meeting – it became a “strategic exercise” focused on energy, space, and sensing technologies.

  1. Keynote Speech: Special Topics*3 Invite international experts, top domestic scholars, and industry leaders to discuss the technological trends and international strategic approaches related to perovskite from a global perspective.

  2. Industry Session: Special Topics*7 Focus on supply chain resilience, process scaling, and BIPV business models. Analyze the key pathways from laboratory research to mass production, and from technical feasibility to commercial implementation.

  3. Academic Session: Special Topics*7 Deeply explore cutting-edge scientific topics such as material dynamics, interface passivation, and layered battery stability, thereby laying the foundation for research and development in next-generation technologies.
